Electronic Field Trips

One of the neatest things you can do

in your classroom is to take an Electronic Field Trip

Your students will love being able to travel the world without missing a class, administrators will love that it costs less than renting a bus, and you'll love the fact that "experts" are available on just about every subject you can imagine!

Here's what educators are saying about e-field trips:

"Thanks to EVERYONE for making our first connection a success!! The kids were so excited! The lesson was excellent, and the students were attentive and fully engaged in the presentation. I'm so excited that we are able to have the portable videoconferencing cart here in Kiel!"

- Deb Sixel, Director of Student Learning, Kiel Public School District

Comments from schools after participating in "Adora Svitak-Celebrations of Culture"

"It was an excellent experience for my students. Adora did a superb job of teaching the students about Japanese culture and how to write a metaphor. The students identified with her as a peer and were impressed with her ability to “teach” them so effectively. All of the students were engaged throughout the entire videoconference which was a testament to the effectiveness of the presentation, since we had 80 kids sitting on the floor in one room! Both my students and I look forward to similar opportunities in the future. Thank you for making this possible!" Mary Kiefer, 4th grade teacher, Bay Harbor Elementary School, Howard Suamico School District

Comments from schools after participating in "All About Matter"

"It was phenomenal. I didn’t know what to expect because it was the first time our school did this type of thing. The cost of the program was a small price to pay for the enthusiasm and excitement that the kids felt during the program. It was very interactive and highly educational! I highly recommend this type of learning for ALL students!!!" Bonnie J. Koeller, 5th Grade Teacher, High Five House, Lineville Intermediate School, Howard Suamico School District

"I thought it was cool that the kids got to do the experiments with the instructor as well as interact in a discussion with her. The kids were very engaged – I didn’t see any kids that were off task. It was good for the kids to see a scientist at work!" Mary Karl, GT Resources Specialist, Howard Suamico School District,

"The program was excellent. The students loved it. They really liked the format of it being live and they could interact with person doing the experiments." Stephen Wood, Lineveille Intermediate School, Howard Suamico School District

Comments from schools around the country after participating in "Dancing Along the River Niger"

"Thank you so much for the effort in coordinating the video conference on Niger River Dance...The overwhelming response from kids today was so encouraging. Some went
home and shared the dances with families, others talked about it."
Northern York County School District, Pennsylvania

"The students really enjoyed the interactive nature of the program and learned a lot. [We] gained a better understanding on how to tell a story with different dances and also learned something new about the history and culture of the places that the river Niger flows through. The program helped the students to see dance as an expression of the culture of a group of people and their everyday experiences in life. The students learned about the creativity of people, their survival and their search for peace around them in the midst of war.The concepts learned may not have been gained in a traditional setting because they needed space for dancing and communication." Ms. Gbemre, Ms. Garza, Fort Bend High School, Texas

"My students enjoyed it. It was fun, interactive, informative. It is a nice option for bringing a guest artist into the classroom when a local person is not available." Anonymous

Comments from schools around the country after participating in "Wisconsin Geology, Ancient Seas and Glaciers"

"The kids were very engaged and could directly relate the information to what they had learned in class. We will definitely select this program again. The presenter was very knowledgeable and got the kids excited about her information." Anonymous

Comments from schools around WI and the country after participating in "A Visit with Mrs. Claus"

"Allows teachers to get a birdseye view of how video conferencing works."

"The kids loved her. She is such a great story teller."

"Students responded well to the program. They are more aware of technology and want to learned more about it. Students made connections from previous learning."

"My students prepared questions, practiced speaking using the mic and the camera, and were motivated to listen carefully and engage in a dialog with Mrs. Clause. The next day, they wrote about their experience using facts that they learned, and requested the book that she read for our own library. They are newly interested in geography as well."

"She hit all learning styles- they sat, they danced, they spoke, they had input, they had to be quiet!"

"This was the students' first experience with video conferencing, so that impacted them tremendously because our school uses VC a great deal. They learned concepts about geography. They learned how the tilt of the earth affects light and darkness on different parts of our planet. They learned about character traits of respect, honesty, perserverence and responsibility."
